A native of Montgomery County and rural by choice, Brian came home right after college with an entrepreneurial itch but little else. He and co-founder Ryan McDiarmid opened Magnolia Scents by Design in the spring of 2008 as a small, handcrafted scents shop. With dedication, and very strong support of the Independence community, Magnolia has expanded their offerings, employs 4 full-time staff in addition to the founders, has a thriving storefront, and a busy online shop shipping worldwide. Brian is also an avid community supporter serving on numerous boards and committees, including as the former board chairperson of both the Independence Chamber of Commerce, and Independence Main Street. His passions include travel, inclusive equality and diversity, inspiring entrepreneurial mindsets in young people, the performing arts, and shopping and dining locally.
